Where to Start
Every buyer's "best" is different. These are the areas I tour most often with clients — each with its own personality, price range, and pace of life.
Fast-growing master-planned living
One of the largest master-planned communities in Texas, Alamo Ranch on the far west side offers newer construction, community pools and parks, and easy access to Loop 1604. It's a favorite for growing households and military families commuting to Lackland AFB.
Established north-side favorite
Stone Oak is one of San Antonio's most established north-side communities, known for mature trees, gated enclaves, golf, and a wide range of restaurants and shopping along Loop 1604 and Highway 281. Popular with move-up buyers and professionals.
Hill country feel, city access
Just outside Loop 1604 on the northwest side, Helotes blends small-town charm with hill country scenery. Old Town Helotes hosts local festivals and live music, and many homes sit on larger lots with views.
Hill country charm & top-rated schools
North of the city along I-10, Boerne offers a historic Main Street, highly regarded schools, and hill country beauty — while still commuting distance to San Antonio. A top pick for buyers wanting space and a slower pace.
Rivers, festivals & small-city energy
Between San Antonio and Austin on I-35, New Braunfels is famous for the Comal and Guadalupe rivers, Schlitterbahn, and Wurstfest. It's ideal for buyers who want a distinct small-city identity with two metros in reach.
Convenient to Randolph AFB
Northeast of the city, Cibolo and Schertz offer newer neighborhoods, community events, and a quick commute to Randolph AFB and the I-35 corridor. A practical choice for military and civilian families alike.
Value close to the city
Just east of San Antonio near Loop 1604, Converse offers attainable price points, established neighborhoods, and quick access to Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph and downtown. A smart option for first-time buyers.
Close to Lackland & growing fast
The west side continues to grow with new communities, retail, and schools, all within an easy drive of Lackland AFB and downtown. Buyers find a mix of established neighborhoods and brand-new construction.
Historic & affordable on I-10
East of San Antonio, Seguin combines a historic downtown, Texas Lutheran University, and some of the most attainable home prices in the region — with I-10 access back to the city.
How to Choose
School district boundaries vary widely across the metro. If schools are a priority, we'll narrow your search to the zones that fit before you tour.
Loop 1604, I-10, I-35, and Highway 281 shape most commutes. Where you work — downtown, the Medical Center, or a JBSA installation — should drive your shortlist.
New construction in Alamo Ranch and the west side offers warranties and modern layouts; established areas like Stone Oak offer mature trees and larger lots.
Hill country views in Helotes and Boerne, river life in New Braunfels, master-planned amenities in Alamo Ranch — decide how you want to spend your weekends.
PCS-ing to Lackland, Fort Sam Houston, or Randolph? I'm MRP-certified and can match your BAH, timeline, and commute to the right community.
Prices vary significantly by area and school zone. A quick conversation about your budget and must-haves saves weeks of searching in the wrong places.
